1 critical after Riverside freeway crash

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A messy freeway crash in Riverside sent one person to the hospital in critical condition on Sunday.

A car smashed into a guardrail and then plunged down an embankment on the eastbound 91 Freeway west of La Sierra Avenue just before 6:30 a.m.

One of the four people in the vehicle was removed and taken to the hospital.

The wreck scattered debris across the freeway, blowing out tires and damaging several other cars.
