INDUSTRY, Calif. (KABC) -- An arrest was made after a person was wounded in a road-rage shooting Thursday morning on the 60 Freeway in Industry, authorities said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, near Crossroads Parkway, according to the CHP.

Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles County firefighters arrived at the scene, where they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to a hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a black Ford pickup truck fired at the driver in a Honda sedan, CHP officials said.

"Units from the Santa Fe Springs area responded and located the victim who did suffer from a gunshot wound. In the course of the investigation, it appears that there was an altercation between two drivers that took place on the freeway," said CHP Ofc. Zachary Salazar.

The suspected shooter fled in a black pickup truck, according to the Highway Patrol. CHP later told Eyewitness News that an arrest was made, but no additional details were available.

The westbound side of the freeway was closed for just over 30 minutes as investigators scoured the pavement for evidence. All lanes were later reopened.

Officers were also seen examining a car parked on the right shoulder. The vehicle was later towed away.

"All we can do is encourage other motorists to do to avoid this is to create distance, to be mindful and respectful of other drivers when you're out there on the road," said Salazar.

Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
