Candlelight vigils honor victims killed in San Bernardino rampage

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Faces were lit by the glow of candles as families and friends stood silent and remembered the lives lost in the San Bernardino shooting rampage.

A memorial filled with American flags, flowers and handwritten messages is just a short distance from the building at the Inland Regional Center where 14 people were killed.

Many residents of the San Bernardino community came to pay their respects. For those who knew the victims, the sense of loss is personal.

In Yucaipa, hundreds took part in another candlelight vigil in memory of the victims, including 40-year-old resident Robert Adams.

Adams, who was an environmental health specialist for San Bernardino County, married his high school sweetheart and was the father of a baby girl. His wife Summer told the crowd her husband loved what she called his "dream" job.

"Although his life was far, far too short, in his 40 years he lived life to the fullest. He had no regrets. He did everything he wanted to do because that's how he lived life," she said.

San Bernardino County employees and officials will be holding their own candlelight vigil for the victims on Monday at 5 p.m.
