SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with police in Santa Paula on Saturday.

Officers responded to the 300 block of North 12th Street shortly after 12 p.m. Police say suspect Jacob Escobedo, 26, had a felony post release offender violation and was wanted on child endangerment and felony resisting arrest.

When they arrived, officers were met by several people who exited a garage at the residence. Those people were detained and later released.

Officers confirmed Escobedo was inside the residence, but police say he refused to come out. Santa Paula police requested the aid from Ventura County Sheriff's deputies and the California Highway Patrol. Their assistance was canceled upon arrival.

After 2 1/2 hours of negotiations with police, Escobedo exited the home.

Escobedo was taken into custody and charged with convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a police officer and the felony warrant. He is being held without bail at Ventura County Jail.
