Toddler found in South LA after being abducted by non-custodial mother

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An 18-month-old girl was found in good health after her non-custodial mother allegedly snatched her during a visitation in South Los Angeles Wednesday.

Sariya Ogbeiwi was found at a restaurant near Florence Avenue and Avalon Boulevard, where she was dropped off by a family member, police said.

Ogbeiwi was under the care of a Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services worker supervising a visitation with her biological mother, Jasmine Kennedy, 19, when police say the mother took the toddler.

The incident happened at a McDonald's in the 1400 block of West Manchester Avenue around 11 a.m. Police say she got on a bus heading eastbound on Manchester to an unknown location.

The suspect remains at large. She is described as a black female with black hair, brown eyes, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a gray shirt and black leggings.

Ogbeiwi had been removed from her mother's custody by DCFS for reasons that were not made clear.

Although Ogbeiwi was placed with a foster family, Kennedy was allowed monitored visitation.
