A small tornado touched down in South Los Angeles on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The incident happened in the 5800 block of Estrella Avenue some time before noon, as a storm pummeled the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed Friday afternoon that the event was an EF0 tornado, with wind speeds up to 85 mph.

It was not immediately clear how much damage the tornado caused. No one was injured. More than 1,000 homes remained without power in the neighborhood by 6 p.m.

Resident Jamie Mena captured incredible footage of the EF0 twister -- the weakest type -- as it spun through the neighborhood, scattering debris and bending trees.

"I've never seen anything like that, it was crazy," said Mena. "I am shaken up."
