SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- The city of South Pasadena is honoring the memory of 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian Jr. with the new installation of a memorial bench on Monday.

The bench was installed around 9 a.m. at Garfield Park, directly across from the children's playground. It is located at 1000 Park Avenue.

"Anyone who sits on Piqui's bench will be able to enjoy watching the children play while listening to their sweet laughter," she said.

The bench is accompanied by a plaque that says "In loving memory of Piqui"- what his mother, Ana Estevez, called her son.

The young child disappeared last April while visiting with his father, Aramazd Andressian Sr., who later confessed to killing the boy.

Andressian Sr. was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
