Man arrested for murder of South LA clerk during robbery

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles Police Department arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the robbery and murder of a South Los Angeles clerk on Thursday.

Police officials did not immediately identify the suspect. He was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. No other details of the arrest were immediately available.

On Wednesday night, a man demanding money stabbed 29-year-old Andrew Ung at the Louisiana Fried Chicken and Donuts shop on Broadway and Florence Avenue. The suspect then fled the scene.

Ung, 29, was the shop owner's son. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The news comes the same day a community march was held in memory of Ung. They chanted, "No to violence, yes to peace," while they walked from the Los Angeles Police Department station on South Broadway Street to the doughnut shop where Ung was killed.

"He was always good to the community. He loved all of us. He tried his best to do everything good," Ung's sister Jenny said.
