Police rescue puppy trapped in drain pipe
After hearing the sound of a dog whimpering, police in Florida rescued a puppy who had fallen into a drain pipe.

A puppy received a second chance at life after being rescued from a drain pipe by deputies in Florida.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office posted about the rescue on their Facebook page on Tuesday, June 7. The deputies had been serving civil process paperwork when they heard the sound of a dog whimpering.

"During a search of the neighboring vacant lot, they found a puppy who had fallen into a collapsed septic drain," according to the post.

Deputies pulled the dog out of the drain but were unable to find an owner in the neighborhood. The puppy, though, was adopted by the deputy who rescued him, and is "now enjoying a life in the lap of luxury," according to the post.

Over 1,400 shared the puppy's story on Facebook, with people thanking the department for their heroic rescue.

"Kudos to this Deputy!!!! What a sweet looking dog!!!" wrote one Facebook user.

"Awesome job, that puppy was in the wrong place at the right time," wrote another. "Many years of love and happiness to them both."
