Fred's Mexican Café is celebrating 25 years with throwback prices

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) --  “It's always a party in here. There's always something happening.”

Every day is a fiesta at Fred’s Mexican Café and Cantina in Huntington Beach. Just ask managing partner Stephanie Wilson.

“And the food is fantastic, and you can't beat the beautiful views of Surf City," Wilson said.

Located just steps from the Huntington Beach Pier, the longtime local favorite serves up ocean views alongside sizzling fajitas, shrimp ceviche, beers and signature margaritas to sip on.

ABC7's Rachel Brown got started with the swordfish tacos.

If you’re planning to watch the 4th of July parade, Fred’s offers some of the best seats in town as the parade rolls down PCH and Main Street.

You can sit back and relax inside or take in the beach breeze from their massive balcony.

This year, Fred’s is celebrating its own anniversary, with 25 years in business.

To mark the milestone, the restaurant is bringing back its original menu from 2001 on the 25th of every month, complete with original prices.

Many items on the menu will cost less than $10.

Giving back is something that's very important to us as a company,” Wilson said. “And so, if you wanna be part of the community and take from the community, you gotta put yourself back out there.”

Fred’s is donating proceeds from July 4th to the Bolsa Chica wetlands, and in 2026 is awarding $10,000 to one local charity every month.

Their most recent recipient was Orange County’s Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“We are just so excited and proud to be part of Huntington Beach, Surf City USA, and all of the locals here are so supportive,” Wilson said.

If you’re stopping by, we hear Tacolicious Tuesday is also a great time to visit.

If you want to watch the parade from Fred’s, they advise getting there early and pack your patience.

But, the bar will be open, and margaritas will be flowing as you wait for a table.

Fred’s Mexican Café and Cantina welcomes walk-ins and accepts reservations on OpenTable.

The restaurant is at 300 Pacific Coast Hwy #201, in Huntington Beach.
