Pasadena father of 3 killed in hit-and-run; driver sought
A Pasadena father of 3 who was killed in a hit-and-run was remembered in a candlelight vigil on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016.

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Pasadena father of three was killed when a Tesla slammed into his motorcycle. The driver fled the scene and remains at large.



Gary Oscar Chavez, 55, was riding his motorcycle along Washington Boulevard near Marengo Avenue around 11:45 p.m. when a gray 2015 Tesla was speeding northbound on Marengo slammed into him.



The driver of the Tesla left his wrecked car behind and fled the scene.



Chavez's brother, Larry Chavez, says he leaves behind three children and countless friends.



A Pasadena father of three was killed when a Tesla slammed into his motorcycle. The driver fled the scene and remains at large.


"Everybody knew him as 'Daddio,' that was his biker name," Larry Chavez said. "He just liked to ride bikes, he was in love with his motorcycle, and he liked everybody."



He described his brother as a "good kid," who never drank or used drugs.



"It's just sad to see my brother go like that because, like I said, I love him a lot. I still don't believe that it happened to him," he said.
