Time Warner Cable experiences widespread Internet outage

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Time Warner Cable customers across the country experienced Internet service issues Wednesday morning.

Time Warner said that service was restored for all customers around 7:30 a.m. PT. Anyone still experiencing problems with their Internet was asked to call Time Warner.

Bobby Amirshahi, vice president of public relations for Time Warner Cable, said the outage occurred around 1:30 a.m. PT during routine network maintenance.

"An issue with our Internet backbone created disruption with our Internet and On Demand services. As of 6am ET services were largely restored as updates continue to bring all customers back online," Amirshahi said in a statement.

More than 11 million residents and companies across the U.S. subscribe to Time Warner Cable.
