Big rig crash shuts 210 East in La Verne
A fatal crash involving a big rig shut down all eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in La Verne Wednesday morning.

LA VERNE, Calif. (KABC) -- A fatal crash involving a dump truck and a disabled car shut down all eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in La Verne Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck driver crashed into a disabled vehicle parked on the right shoulder near Fruit Street around 3:45 a.m., pushing the car into freeway lanes.

The driver of the disabled car was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger was airlifted to the hospital in unknown condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The eastbound side of the freeway was completely shut down after the crash. The carpool lane on the westbound side was also closed because the big rig hit the center divider and authorities had to clear the debris.

All lanes of the freeway re-opened around 8:15 a.m., the CHP said.
