VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- More than 150 Ventura County firefighters are battling a brush fire that broke out in Ventura on Monday afternoon.
The blaze erupted north of Foothill and Kimball roads around 1:45 p.m. The flames had burned between 50 to 75 acres by about 3 p.m., fire officials said.
Six structures are threatened along with Edison power lines, Ventura County Fire said. So far no injuries have been reported.
Foothill Road is closed between Kimball Road and Saticoy Avenue.
Ventura Missionary School has been evacuated due to fire units being staged at the campus. Fire officials said the school was not in any danger.
An air attack involving helicopters and tankers is helping to make good progress, the fire department said. Additional firefighters have been requested.
Large animals in the area of Harmon and Aliso canyon roads were evacuated to the Ventura County Fairgrounds, fire officials said.
