Cooler temperatures across SoCal to last through the weekend

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- With the heat wave well behind us, two big events in Los Angeles on Sunday should benefit from comfortable cool and cloudy conditions.

The Mexican Independence Day parade Sunday morning in Los Angeles will see some clouds and a chance of slight drizzle. By the afternoon's Emmy ceremony, temperatures should warm slightly into the mid-70s.

The rest of the week will remain mostly cool and cloudy - a boost to Southern California firefighters who are still battling major wildfires that broke out during last week's intense heat.

Los Angeles and Orange counties will see the high hit about 74 when the clouds mostly clear up by the afternoon Sunday. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s for the rest of the week with a slight chance of some showers on Monday.

The valleys and Inland Empire could see some drizzle Sunday morning, following by a high of 80 in the afternoon. Temperatures will cool to the 70s for the next several days.

Beaches on Sunday will be cloudy with a chance of drizzle and a high of 71. Beaches dip to the 60s for the rest of the week.

Mountains will see some drizzle with a high of 71. Temperatures will drop to the 50s starting Monday.

The desert areas on Sunday will still be warm, with a high of 84 - but that dips to 71 starting Monday.
