HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Will Ferrell has been a fixture on TV and the big screen, and now he's a fixture on Hollywood Boulevard. The actor received a star on the Walk of Fame.

"I feel so fortunate and yet I can't accept this award. So, just cover it up. Cover it up for someone else," Ferrell said. "No, no, I'm kidding."

Ferrell has a new movie coming out this week - the buddy comedy "Get Hard" with Kevin Hart.

Hart was on hand at the Walk of Fame ceremony along with former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Molly Shannon and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

"I just want to thank him for opening up my world. When were at the top of Half Dome holding hands that night, looking up at the stars, I remember you said, 'I'm going to be a movie star, you go be the mayor.'" Garcetti said.

Shannon took the podium and shared her memories of working on "SNL" with Ferrell. She said Ferrell may take on outrageous characters on screen, but he was always relaxed and took everything in stride.

She said some critics were tough on her, Ferrell and the whole "SNL" cast at the time, but Ferrell was not thrown by the comments.

"He would take the worst reviews and blow them up and hang them up on his office, on his office door," she said. "It kind of took the power out of it, and I thought, 'Wow, that is so cool that he could do that.' I would kind of feel ashamed about it, but Will would just laugh it off."

Ferrell's frequent movie co-star John C. Reilly shared a few words of praise and even wrote a poem about Ferrell.

"But here's a warning to those souls who find our fruit so sweet. If you're not careful, you'll end up like Will Ferrell on the street," Reilly said.

Ferrell said even after all this time, people still misspell his name. Not this time, though. Ferrell's name has literally been cemented in Hollywood history.
