12-year-old reels in 551-pound shark

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (KABC) Aidan Medley caught a 9-foot-long, 551 pound bull shark on a New Year's fishing trip off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida.

He says he was determined to catch the shark because it kept eating all the fish he was trying to catch.

"For about 20 minutes, it was complete, agonizing fighting," said Medley. "Then after that, you completely lose feeling in your body."

Medley later found out he may have broken the Florida state record for the biggest shark ever caught. The International Game Fish Association keeps track of the records. It says it will know for sure in the next couple months if Medley set the record.
