LONG BEACH --
The Long Beach City Council has unanimously approved an ordinance restricting where sex offenders can live. This comes in response to a community's outrage over more than a dozen registered sex offenders living in the same 12-unit complex.
Under the ordinance, sex offenders would be prohibited from living within 2,000 feet of licensed child-care facilities, or within 2,500 feet of 'high risk' sex offenders.
The Long Beach city attorney's office will now craft the new law before sending it back to the council for approval.
