O.C. preacher maintains church is tax-exempt

ORANGE COUNTY The IRS investigated Wiley Drake of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park after he endorsed then GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

He used church letterhead to make the announcement.

But federal tax law prohibits church leaders from endorsing political candidates without risking their tax-exempt status.

On Sunday morning, Drake announced to his congregation he had been cleared of any wrongdoing.
