Walnuts are a healthy addition to any diet. Now, they may also be a powerful cancer fighter. Scientists found snack-sized amounts of walnuts slowed the growth of cancerous tumors. So far the results were only found in mice. All the mice had tumors -- while some ate walnuts, some did not. Experts found that tumors in the walnut group grew half as fast.
Doctors say Omega-3 fatty acids and phytosterols - both found in walnuts - might account for the cancer-fighting properties.
