Order to boil water lifted in most areas

DOWNEY, Calif. Only a small portion of the city remains under the order. The area west of Bellflower Boulevard, east of and including Fidler Avenue, north of Foster Road and south of the 105 Freeway is still under the order to boil their water.

Officials issued the order for the entire city last week after traces of coliform bacteria were found in the water system.

The order was lifted late Sunday after several consecutive tests for the bacteria came back negative.
