WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. --A West Hollywood dermatologist has been arrested and charged with injecting his patients with fake botox. Dr. David Cary Hansen is accused of using an unapproved form of the substance, which can cause deadly botulism in high dosage.
Hansen, who reportedly has a celebrity clientele, faces up to 60 years in prison, and fines of $600,000 if convicted on all 10 federal counts.
Prosecutors say there is no indication that any patients were hospitalized because of the fake Botox.
