Hundreds of dead animals found on IE property

TEMECULA Elisao Gilbert Jimenez, 66, was taken into custody around noon Friday after a search of his residence in the 39000 block of Liefer Road revealed a number of dogs and cats "in poor health," said Riverside County sheriff's Investigator Jose Martinez.

He said deputies were sent to Jimenez's house to assist Department of Animal Services officers with a vicious dog. When deputies checked the back of the suspect's property, they found it littered with more than 200 dog and cat carcasses, according to Martinez.

The living animals on the property were removed by Animal Services officers. Martinez said.

Jimenez was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, where he's being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
