Carona's sentencing may be delayed

SANTA ANA, Calif. Carona is free on bond after being convicted in federal court of a single count of witness tampering.

Prosecutors apparently are calling for a tougher sentence that takes into account behavior for which Carona was acquitted.

The defense is asking for more time to respond.

Carona was accused of corruption while in office, but was acquitted of most of the counts in a grand jury indictment.

The sentencing could get pushed back until May.

The case against Carona's wife Deborah and his former mistress Debra Hoffman was dismissed after Carona's verdict.
