L.A. teens warn about inhalant abuse

April 13, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Some Los Angeles area teens have created a video warning for their peers and parents about the dangers of inhalant abuse. The Hollenbeck Area Teen Community Police Advisory Board has identified the problem as epidemic in their community.

Their public service announcement drives home the idea that inhaling substances to get high can be deadly. It's happened often enough that the deaths even have a name "Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome."

There are more than 1,400 products which are lawful, but can be abused by inhaling them.
