1 killed, 1 wounded in So. L.A. shooting

SOUTH LOS ANGELES The shooting was reported near Central Avenue and 92nd Street in South Los Angeles.

One person died at the scene. The other person was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, according to the L.A. City Fire Dept.

The deceased was apparently shot while sitting in a 2-door silver sedan. Late Monday afternoon, the body was still in the car while the investigation was ongoing. Homicide detectives were on scene.

LAPD officers from the Southeast Division had a perimeter set up around the area while they were searching for a suspect believed to be in the area. A command post was set up at 92nd Street and Central.

LAPD officers had been searching for the suspect Monday afternoon. Several people were immediately detained at the scene. At least three individuals were taken in to custody by police.

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies were assisting.

Neighborhood residents had been advised to stay inside and keep doors and windows locked while the search was ongoing.
