Young 'Orphan' star relishes creepy role

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard are Fuhrman's co-stars in the thriller. They play parents who adopt an older child, Esther, into their family. However, the family soon finds her doing everything from playing with matches to pushing her sister into on-coming traffic.

When told she probably played one of the creepiest characters all summer, the young actress replied, "Thank you very much. I'm taking that as a compliment because that's exactly what I was hoping."

Orphan is rated R for disturbing and violent content. However, Fuhrman made the film when she was just 11.

"My mom doesn't really let me see rated 'R' movies unless she sees them before me. But a lot of my friends see rated 'R' movies, so most of my friends are probably going to see it," said Fuhrman.

In the film, if anyone made Esther mad, she would shift to her evil ways very easily.

"I really wanted to make her so scary that everyone comes out and goes, 'Oh my gosh! I don't want to see that movie ever again but I have to!'" said Fuhrman.

The creepiness hits theaters on Friday.
