Man goes on homeless stabbing spree?

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. Police caught the suspect near the Music Box theater, which was the scene of the second stabbing.

The first stabbing took place at the corner of Western and Sunset, adjacent to the Orchard Supply Hardware at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday. A 51-year-old man was killed in the incident. The second stabbing happened at the Music Box in the 6100 block of Hollywood Boulevard at around 2:30 p.m. A 43-year-old man was killed near the theater. The third stabbing happened at 4:40 p.m. at the corner of Argyle and Yucca St. The 59-year-old man in that case is in critical condition.

Los Angeles police have a 54-year-old man, Damian Durado, in custody. It is believed that surveillance video at the Music Box, at the corner of Hollywood and Gower, helped them make the arrest. The man was allegedly carrying a knife.

The three stabbing incidents occurred hours after Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Police Chief Bill Bratton held a news conference to tout how the crime rate in Hollywood had declined.

Even though police have a suspect, they are asking for the public's help. If you have any information on any of the stabbings, you are asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) LAPD-24-7, or (877) 527-3247.
