Sewage spill closes beach in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, CALIF. Swimming is prohibited in the area after thousands of gallons of water containing detergents flowed out of a broken pipe into the ocean.

San Diego County officials posted contamination signs 500 feet north and south of the /*Oceanside Pier*/.

There was no raw sewage in the water, and that pipe has since been repaired.

Warning signs will remain posted in the area until water samples determine the contamination has dissipated.
