Public input wanted for new LAPD Chief

LOS ANGELES The first meeting was held Wednesday at Friendship Auditorium, 3201 Riverside Drive near Griffith Park Boulevard.

Chief William Bratton's resignation is effective Oct. 3. A replacement will probably not be selected by then, so the mayor will most likely appoint an interim chief.

The next Police Commission community meeting will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the /*Department of Water and Power*/ Community Auditorium, 4030 Crenshaw Blvd.

Other meetings will be held on September 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Felicia Mahood Senior Center, 11338 Santa Monica Blvd., West Los Angeles; and Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at One Generation, 18255 Victory Blvd., Reseda.
