Hollywood Hills homeowners rush to clean up

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, Calif.

Some of the hillside gave way, sending dirt and rocks onto the road.

Mud threatened at least one house in a steep canyon near the Hollywood Bowl. However, no injuries were reported.

Police had to move some large boulders off the street at Nichols Canyon Road and Dresden Drive. Several firefighters were also called in to help some homeowners shovel away all the mud.

A homeowner said the heavy rain started coming down in the early morning.

"At about 5 a.m. we got a river coming down through our bathroom and we started to empty out the water, but then the whole ceiling in the bathroom came down so we had to evacuate into the main house," said Erin Yee.

Yee spent Saturday trying to empty out her guest house of water and mud. She also worried about the hillside, part of it has already come down and if there's more heavy rain, the situation could get much worse.
