1 dead, 1 gravely wounded in Westminster home

WESTMINSTER, Calif. Though investigators are trying to piece together details of the case, there are still many unknowns. The coroner arrived Sunday night to remove the woman's body from the home on the 5300 block of Duncannon Avenue.

The wounded man was taken to a local hospital, and his condition is said to be grave.

Westminster police received a phone call from Nevada authorities to check the well being of the man and woman who live at the Duncannon Avenue home. When police officers arrived at the home Sunday afternoon, they found a woman who had been shot to death and a man with a gunshot wound.

Police say that a vehicle registered to the residents of the home was involved in a short pursuit that ended in a crash earlier Sunday. The driver was first spotted at Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino in Stateline, Nev.

"Some casino security guards had tried to detain a subject who was acting suspiciously, and that subject got in a car and drove away but crashed a short time later," said Van Woodson of Westminster Police.

"When the security guards caught up to him, they found that he had a gunshot wound to his leg and was driving a car that did not belong to him, so they called their local police department," Woodson added.

The wounded suspect was transported to a hospital in Henderson, Nev. but later taken into custody by police.

Police don't know yet if the suspect is the gunman who killed the woman and gravely injured the man, or if there are other people involved.
