California Lutheran University gets $5M gift

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. The donation is the largest single gift in the history of the university. The money will go toward a new football stadium at the university.

CLU was planning an $8-million stadium project.

Current plans call for a 3,000-seat facility, including locker rooms, coaching offices, meeting rooms, a press box, VIP lounge and clock tower.

The stadium will also house an art gallery where Rolland's extensive collection of bronze statuary and other works will be displayed.

Groundbreaking for the new stadium is set for this summer.

They hope to have the facility ready for the 2011 football season.

CLU was founded 50 years ago.

The university has used Mount Clef Stadium since 1963.

This past football season the CLU Kingsmen went unbeaten in the /*Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference*/.
