Cities of Maywood, Bell to merge police depts

LOS ANGELES Officials say the merger would save money at a time when revenues are declining.

They are open to other nearby cities joining the possible new law enforcement agency.

The city of Maywood has requested $280,000 from the federal government in order to study the benefits of a multi-city police agency.

Cudahy relies on Maywood for police services.

But for now, officials there say they are opposed to such a merger.
