MTA board to vote on Gold Line extension plan

LOS ANGELES The transportation agency's board of directors is expected to approve $690 million in funding for the project, which would include stops in Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa. The funding would come through the Measure R transportation sales tax.

If the board approves it, groundbreaking on the 11.3-mile project would happen as early as June, and the extension would begin service by 2014.
