Buena Park day spa raided for prostitution

July 3, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Buena Park police completed a seven-month investigation Thursday by raiding a business they claim was a front for prostitution. The raid on the Lincoln Day Spa, 6971 Lincoln #E, resulted in the arrests of five people on charges related to prostitution.

Police say the investigation started with complaints by a citizen. An undercover investigation was initiated and over the next several months, multiple violations of solicitation of prostitution were observed, police said.

Investigators say the business, which was disguised as a therapeutic day spa, advertised itself with many services including acupuncture and various massage styles. Police say undercover officers were offered massage services along with various sexual acts for an additional expense.

Four female suspects were arrested for prostitution and the business owner has been arrested for operating outside the scope of a legitimate business. Police say their investigation is continuing and additional charges are being sought by the Buena Park City Prosecutor. All five suspects have been released on misdemeanor citations.

The business, located in a busy strip mall, has been closed and red tagged by the Buena Park Code Enforcement Office.
