Botched gold robbery ends with fatal shooting

RIALTO, Calif. Rialto Police found a man with several gunshot wounds in his back. The man was transported to a local hospital and died a short time later.

Police believe the man was shot during an armed robbery.

Two men from Riverside County arrived in Rialto to finalize a purchase of gold from a private seller.

Two armed men approached the buyer and the seller at 382 W. Jackson St. in Rialto at approximately 12:35 p.m. and forced them to the ground. The victims were reportedly then robbed.

One of the victims reportedly tried to get up and run. He was then shot in the back several times. He died at a hospital later.

Rialto Police are seeking the two armed men and the person believed to be the gold seller.

Based upon leads, there were two locations where police believed that suspects were located, according to Rialto Police Lt. Joe Cirilo.

Police obtained search warrants for two separate locations: 800 block of North Rosalind Ave., and 1800 block of N. Magnolia Ave. Police identified three individuals at those locations, one at N. Rosalind, and two from N. Magnolia that were believed to be involved in the fatal shooting at 382 W Jackson St.

Police believe there may be one more suspect outstanding, and will continue the investigation.

The deceased victim's identity was not released.
