Police in Ventura discovered 24 cars had been broken into and ransacked while responding to car alarms and stolen car calls Sunday.Officers initially received a call about 2 a.m. of a car alarm sounding in the area of Sandberg Lane.

When police arrived, they found the windows smashed and the contents of the car ransacked. While searching for suspects, officers discovered nine other cars had been broken into on the surrounding streets of Tennyson and Murdoch lanes.

Police were later called at 7 a.m. to a mobile home park across the street from the earlier car burglaries to investigate about a stolen car.
