'Saw 3D' slices box office rivals w/$24.2M

LOS ANGELES The final installment in the horror franchise made $10 million more than the debut of last year's "Saw VI."

"Paranormal Activity 2" slipped into the No. 2 spot this week, after opening with $40.7 million.

The action comedy "Red" held up well and finished at No. 3 with $10.8 million, lifting its total to $58.9 million.

Another 3D hit that continued to do well was "Jackass 3D." The stunt and prank comedy crossed the $100 million mark, landing in the No. 4 spot with $8.4 million. The film has now made $101.6 million total.

The legal drama "Conviction" starring Hilary Swank broke into the top 10 list after showing in a handful of theaters for two weeks. The real-life drama ranked No. 10 with $1.8 million.
