Ballot from Lincoln election found in W.Va.

BOAZ, W.Va. The ballot was found at Henderson Hall, an old plantation near Parkersburg.

The center's director said the area where the ballot was found was actually part of Virginia at the time.

"That election was a very critical election and not many people here voted for Lincoln, because as you remember, this was Virginia, and that precipitated the start of West Virginia being created," said Dave McKain, Henderson Hall director.

Each party printed their own ballots back in 1860. Then voters would choose the candidate they wanted, sign it and drop it in a box.
