Evacuation planned for burning SD bomb house

ESCONDIDO, Calif. Investigators came to the rental home last month after a landscaper was injured by a mine-like device.

The man who was living in the home, 54-year-old George Jakubec, pleaded not guilty Monday to eight federal charges.

Authorities believe a controlled burn of the home will incinerate unstable compounds, without causing detonations.

That burn is planned for 9 a.m. Thursday and 200 nearby homes will be evacuated as a precaution. A 16-feet high metal fence has been put up around the property, and the 15 Freeway will be shut down during the operation.
