Toy gun sparks SWAT standoff in Signal Hill

SIGNAL HILL, Calif. Authorities said the SWAT team responded to an apartment near 32nd Street and Lewis Avenue after a call of an armed barricaded suspect holding a young girl at about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

A woman told police her boyfriend was inside an apartment with an AK-47.

When police arrived, the man with the child reportedly refused to come out. Police had evacuated the apartment building, but after hours of investigation, it was found that the suspect was not armed.
