Some painkillers may up heart attack risk

LOS ANGELES Swiss scientists said a review of existing research found that painkillers taken to treat inflammation, such as /*Celebrex*/, /*Aleve*/ and /*Advil*/, can raise the risk of heart attack, stroke or death.

However, researchers said the magnitude of the risk is small in absolute terms, approximately one cardiovascular event per 100 patients.

In fact, they said for many patients, the benefits of the painkillers may outweigh the risk.
