Gov't supporters, opponents protest in Yemen

SANAA, Yemen

Hundreds of anti-government protesters gathered in /*Yemen*/'s capital on Thursday.

It would be a clear indication that many in the country were not satisfied with President Ali Abdullah Saleh's announcement on Wednesday that he would not seek re-election. Saleh's current term ends in 2013, after more than three decades in office.

He also promised not to install his son as president. The protesters want the president to step down sooner.

Many of the president's supporters also marched on the streets and accused opponents of trying to create chaos.
