Hathaway, Franco keep mum on Oscar ceremony

LOS ANGELES

One thing they can't hide is their chemistry.

"I've been thinking about having chemistry with /*James Franco*/ for years," said Hathaway.

The duo knows they have big shoes to fill when it comes to the /*Oscars*/.

Billy Crystal's eight times as host were always memorable. He was known as a master of going with the moment.

It's a skill we also saw years earlier with host David Niven, when the entire viewing audience was surprised by a streaker, and in 2007 when Ellen DeGeneres whipped out her camera to snap a quick picture with Clint Eastwood.

Franco and Hathaway can only hope for spontaneous moments like that, but one thing they know for sure is they're playing to a friendly crowd.

"We have gotten so much love from so many people, so many lovely people just coming out of the wood work, just sending well wishes," said Hathaway. "I feel very lucky that we have such a kind audience."

The new hosts want to keep us guessing about their real plans for big show, but Hathaway promises there is one moment that will be talked about on Monday after the awards.

"PS22 is here and they're performing and they're the most amazing group of kids. It's a bunch of 5th graders from Staten Island, with one of the most inspiring teachers you could even hope to see," she said. "And they will be performing a very moving number and it will be a great cap on the evening and a great way to keep perspective of how lucky we all are to be here."

So how many wardrobe changes will there be during the ceremony?

"It hasn't hit double digits yet but we're getting close," said Hathaway.
