Man arrested for firing shotgun at deputies

WEST VALINDA, SAN GABRIEL VALLEY

Deputies heard two gunshots from the residence when they arrived. After containing the area and requesting backup, they contacted family members inside the residence, who told them their son was the armed suspect, and that he had fired his weapon.

George Calderon, 30, surrendered after several attempts to communicate with him. Deputies found a 12-gauge shotgun that belonged to the suspect.

Deputies found damage in the carport from the discharged shotgun round. They determined Calderon had fired in their direction.

As a result, Calderon was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, as well as negligent discharge and possession of an unregistered firearm.

Deputies booked the suspect at the L.A. County Sheriff's Industry Station.

No one was injured in the incident.
