Oxnard carjack attempt leads to stabbing

One person was injured when an attempted carjacking in Oxnard escalated to a stabbing on Monday, March 28, 2011.

One person was injured when an attempted carjacking in Oxnard escalated to a stabbing early Monday morning.

According to Oxnard authorities, Anthony Palacio, 30, and Maria Rodriguez, 27, were sitting in a parked car along the 4500 block of Saviers Road. Shortly before 2 a.m., two male suspects approached the car and demanded the vehicle from the victims.

Palacio tried to defend himself and a struggle ensued. At the end of the altercation, Palacio managed to keep the car but suffered a stab wound. Having lost their fight for the vehicle, the suspects fled on foot.

Palacio was transported to St. John's Hospital, where he was treated for a non life-threatening injury.
