It's one of the few hopeful signs the family's received since she vanished in March.
Eyewitness News spoke exclusively to the parents of Rebecca Coriam in Los Angeles last March just days after their daughter disappeared from the Disney cruise ship she was working on.
Tuesday, Eyewitness News spoke to Rebecca's father from England, who confirmed that somebody has been using Rebecca's credit card. He's hoping this latest development means his daughter is still alive.
Rebecca Coriam's mother received an email over the weekend from her daughter's bank reporting recent financial activity on her credit card. Rebecca, a 24-year-old British woman and a Disney Wonder crewmember, vanished last March less than 24 hours after the cruise ship sailed out of Los Angeles on a seven-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera.
In a telephone interview from England Tuesday, Rebecca Coriam's father told Eyewitness News that this latest development could provide a significant clue in the case of his missing daughter.
"It could be that's she's alive, or then again it could be somebody else trying to get an account, or it could be someone trying to get in ours, I don't know," said Rebecca's father over the phone. "It's in the hands of investigators. That's all I know at the moment."
At this point there has been no evidence of foul play. While there was an unverified claim by another crewmember that Rebecca jumped overboard, her body has never been found.
Rebecca's father is holding out hope that she is still alive, but he admits his daughter's disappearance has taken its toll on the Coriam family.
The Disney cruise line issued a statement: "Over the past few weeks, we have done everything possible to get to the bottom of this situation. We continue to assist the Royal Bahamas Police Force with their investigation and we are awaiting their final report. We understand this is a very difficult time for the family and our thoughts are with them."
