2 dead, 1 injured in Venice shooting

LOS ANGELES

LAPD says they responded to a call of shots fired at Penmar Park in the Venice area around 4 p.m. When they arrived three people were wounded, two were dead at the scene.

The third victim was shot in the leg and has been transported to the UCLA Medical Center in stable condition.

"There was another third victim who ran, or escaped, west towards the end of the baseball diamond who fell at the end of the fence," said Venice resident Brian McGuiness. "And then a third vehicle came up, an emergency vehicle. And they started to do respiratory on him, and vitals on him. He survived."

City Councilman Bill Rosendahl was at the crime scene and said the age ranges of the victims are between 18 and 21 years old.

Police are searching for the suspect. A motive for the shooting or identities of the victims has not been released.
