Dodgers vendor won't get quick contract decision

LOS ANGELES

Facility Merchandising Inc. wants to know if the /*Los Angeles Dodgers*/ will keep their exclusive contract with the vendor through 2017, before it makes any more royalty payments and buys inventory for next season.

FMI CEO Martin Arenson said his company has suffered financially from a steep drop in attendance at Dodger games, which he suggested was attributed in part to attention about team owner Frank McCourt's contentious divorce.

The Dodgers argue that FMI has refused to comply with the terms of the contract, and it would be unfair to force the team to decide whether to keep or reject the contract before its reorganization plan is in place.
